And tells me about it at dinner.  <\/p>\n<p>There are a few ways I can respond.<\/p>\n<p>Like I might keep reading the paper.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 While throwing in an occasional: \u2018&#8230;uh huh\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Because I&#8217;m not really interested.<\/p>\n<p>_&#8230; Definitely not the right response._<\/p>\n<p>Or I may do better.  I can stop what I am doing.<\/p>\n<p>And pay attention.<\/p>\n<p>Because I know it&#8217;s important to my spouse.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s important to me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; Definitely much better.<\/p>\n<p>_But still not the best._ <\/p>\n<p>The Torah&#8217;s ideal?  That our relationship be so deep that I care about it as if it was about me.<\/p>\n<p>Because it really is.<\/p>\n<p>2. ELIEZER PRAYED: &#8216;G-D &#8230; BE WITH ME TODAY &#8230;\u2019 (24:12)<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bashert\u2019. It\u2019s a pretty well known Yiddish expression.  It means something like \u2018predestined\u2019.  And it expresses the traditional Jewish belief that \u201cmarriages are made in heaven\u201d.  That G-d is in the background \u201cpulling the strings\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 Abraham\u2019s servant Eliezer is sent to find a wife for Isaac.  And he asks for G-d\u2019s help.<\/p>\n<p>That G-d lead him to a woman who excels in chessed.  Acts of kindness. <\/p>\n<p>And Jewish tradition says that there was more to it.<\/p>\n<p>That when Eliezer met Rebecca it looked like G-d really was pulling the strings!<\/p>\n<p>They tell us that Eliezer even saw miracles happening for her.<\/p>\n<p>Things like: \u201cThe waters of the well rose in her honor when Rebecca came to the well\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 Pretty impressive stuff.<\/p>\n<p>But to Eliezer, trained in the ways of Abraham, it still wasn\u2019t enough.  The bottom line was still her chessed.  Her kind nature and kind acts.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 And that\u2019s such a Jewish attitude!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow!  That was an impressive miracle!<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 But let\u2019s see if she does chessed! <\/p>\n<p>Because if she doesn\u2019t?<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know how to explain the miracle.  But one thing I do know.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 She isn\u2019t really spiritual\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>3. JOKE OF THE WEEK: \u201cIT WAS JUST MEANT TO BE<\/p>\n<p>A fellow was just about ready to start his diet.  Ready to swear off things like his daily stop at the bakery for the sweet roles in the window.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 Well, he was almost ready.
